Farnham Dad and barrister Alex Just selected as Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate

Local barrister Alex Just has been selected as Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Farnham and Bordon.

As a local campaigner, Alex was nominated unanimously by the Farnham and Bordon constituency party and endorsed by the national Labour Party. He will be our candidate to be the first MP for this new constituency once a General Election is called.

Alex Just, 38, lives with his wife and three young children in Farnham – his eldest son goes to the local state primary school. He works as a barrister in London and has led campaigns against local education cuts, to tackle the River Wey sewage crisis, and to stop the expansion of private jet flights at Farnborough Airport.

Alex says he is determined to capitalise on Labour’s significant lead in the national opinion polls and the fact that the recent boundary changes, which bring together communities in Surrey and Hampshire, make it possible for Labour to win.

Alex said: “I am tremendously excited to have been chosen to represent Labour at the general election in Farnham and Bordon.

“Labour’s overwhelming lead in the opinion polls has propelled us into second place in this entirely new constituency, within a few votes of winning.

“We are on the brink of a historic achievement here – it could be the first time in over a century that our community can send an MP to Westminster who is not a Tory.

“With the backing of local voters, I am determined to be at the heart of a Labour government that will begin the task of fixing broken Britain.

“My priority will be to get the future back for our children and to work for the people of Farnham and Bordon who have been taken for granted by Tories and Lib-Dems for far too long.”
