ABOUT US

We are a lively and active Party, campaigning for Labour on behalf of the people of the Farnham and Bordon constituency, which includes Haslemere, Liphook, Whitehill and many places in between.

We believe in democracy, integrity and fairness and are determined to ensure these Labour values run through our public institutions and services, just as they do in our community.

That’s why we work hard to ensure Labour representation at all levels of government.

Our Party was formed to give working people a voice and improve lives. Over the last 100 years, Labour has built a proud history of achievements in power, and now Keir Starmer has set out five missions for the next Labour government.

We are a membership organisation and there are many ways you can get involved.

CLP Executive

John Gaskell

Chair
John has lived in Weybourne, Farnham for over twenty years. In his career in IT in Holland, Belgium, and the UK, John has seen how successful infrastructure projects can work if local people are properly involved. He believes we should look at best practice outside the locality before implementing anything new, large or small.

Shirley Lewis

vice chair
Shirley lives in Haslemere. She is a teacher and qualified self employed RHS horticulturalist. Both her sons went to local state schools and she has taught locally. She enjoys walking with her dog in the fantastic countryside.

Michelle Birchwood

vice chair - membership
Michelle moved to Farnham to raise her children in a beautiful, safe place with fantastic schools. But too often local problems such as sewage dumping and facilities for children and young people have not received the support they deserve. Michelle has a deep knowledge of parliamentary affairs which she brings to bear on local issues.

She has been a local authority school governor in Alton and has helped to link up schools in Hampshire, Ghana and the British Virgin Islands.

Chris Locke

POlitical education and training
Chris moved to Farnham with his young family in 2010, and has loved the excellent local schools and acres of forest for dog walks and running. He runs his small business - Caribou Digital - from Farnham, which researches and develops policy on digital technology & economies in emerging markets for organisations such as the UN, World Bank and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Chris helps organise social events and speakers for our local meetings.

Geraldine Sheedy

Women’s Officer
Geraldine moved to Liphook from Elstead in September 2021. She has an adult daughter, two dogs and enjoys singing in a local choir/drama group. She qualified as a nurse in 1984 and has worked in the NHS and the voluntary sector. Geraldine is currently part of the senior leadership team at a local children’s hospice charity. She sees on a daily basis how the cost-of-living crisis has adversely affected families who have a child who is sick or disabled.

Ed Rosier

Despite being born in Aldershot, Ed spent his first 18 years living and attending school in Farnham, giving him an insight into the issues facing local young people. Ed went on to study Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at the University of Manchester, where he became involved in Manchester Labour Students. Ed is excited to be able to use this opportunity as your Youth Officer to be able to meet and engage with other young people interested in providing a real political alternative to the same old Tories Farnham and Bordon has always had.
