The government has today announced the creation of a North Hampshire Strategic Authority, merging Rushmoor, Hart, and Basingstoke & Deane as part of their devolution program. But what does that actually mean for us in Rushmoor? Right now, 85% of our services are delivered by Hampshire County Council in Winchester, with Rushmoor delivering just 15%. Too often, residents don’t know who to turn to, while decisions affecting our area are made far from home. Today’s announcement would change that, streamlining services under one body, bringing decisions closer to where they matter. Local elections are still taking place this May, where you'll be voting for your Rushmoor Borough and Hampshire County Councillors, and next year, we’ll vote on this new authority. I will keep pushing for a system that makes local services simpler and more effective for our community in Rushmoor.
