The Labour government has delivered 2 million more appointments on the NHS just 5 months into the job, meeting a manifesto pledge 7 months early and ending agonising waits for millions of patients.
Figured published by NHS England show that between July and November 2024, the NHS delivered more than 2 million appointments than the year before.
During the general election, Labour promised to make 2 million more appointments available through the NHS within 1 year of office.
In meeting the pledge ahead of schedule, the Health Secretary said “We have wasted no time in getting to work to cut NHS waiting times and end the agony of millions of patients suffering uncertainty and pain.
“Because we ended the strikes, invested in the NHS, and rolled out reformed ways of working, we are finally putting the NHS on the road to recovery.”
